Bored or at a loose end? Want to get off the sofa, get active or make new friends? Then Sporting Chance is for you!
These weekly sports and social activities for men aged 50 and over are run by our friendly band of volunteers. There’s something for everyone – no matter what level of fitness – from walking football to healthy cooking classes, reminiscence sessions and much more.

People already taking part have discovered they ‘get out more and have lots of new mates’ as well as fantastic benefits including weight loss, improved mobility, less medication, better mood, and an increased sense of wellbeing.
It is easy to get involved; just give us a call or drop us an email and come along and see what’s on offer. If you’re feeling unsure, our friendly band of volunteers will make sure you’re given a warm welcome!
Our COVID-19 Response programme includes projects operating on a local and national level, with new roles to support the community during the pandemic.

Jeff has suffered from mobility issues for years, and found his health issues made him feel quite low. But through volunteering with Sporting Chance he has felt more confident and outgoing.

It's official! Hundreds of men, aged over 50, taking part in Volunteering Matters' Sporting Chance projects have enhanced well-being and have reduced their dependency on local medical services. By getting out and 'making mates' they are fighting fit.
Volunteering Matters has been awarded £800,000 by Players of People's Postcode Lottery. The funding will support key Volunteering Matters services across England, Scotland and Wales over the next 12 months.
