In our seventh year supporting Discovery Communications’ ‘Discover Your Impact’ day, we will be sending 500 media professionals out to 23 community projects across London on Friday 17th June.

The projects will support a diverse range of charities including Acton Homeless Concern, Age UK Southwark, Football Beyond Borders, Roots and Shoots,Lambeth Mencap and many more.

This year, we have arranged a number of micro-volunteering opportunities for Discovery staff who want to volunteer but cannot leave the office for an entire day. Opportunities will include letter writing to children in hospitals and working with a primary school eco-group to create bee habitats for endangered species.

Bev Frain, Head of Employee Volunteering at Volunteering Matters, said: “We are very pleased to be a part of ‘Discover Your Impact’ day for the seventh year running. It’s a fantastic example of how employee volunteering programmes can have a high social impact with a single day event.”

Michelle Russo, EVP Global Communications at Discovery Communications said: “We’re very excited for our seventh annual Impact Day, which stands to be our biggest yet with almost 500 employees set to take part.  Partnering with Volunteering Matters has enabled us to line up a fantastic breadth of projects and as a purpose-driven company, we can’t wait to once again make an impact in our local communities.”
