How ‘grandmentors’ are helping young care leavers find their feet

Earlier this year Grandmentor Honor and her mentee Kai were featured in The Guardian as they spoke to Jessica Murray about how the Grandmentors programme has changed both their lives.

Support Grandmentors

Every year over 10,000 16-18 year olds leave care in the UK. They’re at risk of falling into debt, as well as becoming mentally or physically ill, vulnerable and discriminated against as they transition into adulthood.

82% of the vulnerable young people supported by our Grandmentors are in education, employment or training within six months of leaving care. This compares to just 51% nationally.

We think all young care leavers deserve the support of a Grandmentor. Help us make this happen. Donate today.
